Mastectomy Fittings normally take place 6 weeks after a woman's surgery. By that time, they are usually completely healed. Our Certified Mastectomy Fitter is here to make sure you are fitted properly in a private and relaxing environment and find an undergarment that best suits your needs.
She understands how critical this decision is for your health and self esteem. A good fitting will ensure that your Mastectomy Bra will help to protect your surgical scar, balance weight on your shoulders and help keep you from experiencing back and neck pain.
Mastectomy Fittings are done by appointment only. Upon making your appointment, you will be asked for your insurance and doctor's information to ensure smooth processing once your order is placed.
To be fitted for breast forms and/or bras a referral and/or prescription are required prior to your fitting in order to bill insurance on your behalf.
Our fitter will first do a consultation with you to get background information and answer any questions you may have.
A scheduled fitting can take between 45 minutes to an hour. You will be shown the prosthetics and garments we have to choose from and can even try them on with your clothing to make sure they work well for you.
Before a fitting you will be asked questions so that your fitter can get you in the best possible bra or prosthetic.
You should be prepared for questions such as:
*How long has it been since your surgery?
*What type of insurance do you have?
*Are you currently wearing a breast form?
*When did you last purchase a breast form?
*Do you have any allergies?
*What are some of your favorite activities?
At your fitting, you will have the opportunity to browse through our wide variety of bras, silicone breast prostheses, swim forms, surgical camisoles, and leisure forms.
Surgical camisoles include pockets to hold surgical drains and fiberfill puffs to provide shape. They are worn home from surgery so it's best to get one prior to going for your surgery.
